Dr
Shaun Kilminster. BSc(Hon), PGCEd, MSc(Psych),
CPsychol, PhD, FSS, Hon FFPM, is the UK's
primary expert in measuring pain. He has extensively published
in the medical literature and has invented several clinical tests
involving both psychological and physiological measures.
He is a Fellow of the Royal
Statistical Society and Hon Fellow of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical
Medicine, Royal College of Physicians of England. He has been
an investigator on about 100 clinical pharmacology studies over
the last 14 years. Dr Kilminster was a consulting psychologist
at the Royal Surrey County Hospital (Department of Clinical Pharmacology).
Dr Kilminster is a Past Chairman of the Society of Pharmaceutical
Medicine and CEO of Headache Testing Ltd, 29 Harley Street, London.
Dr
Andrew Dowson. MB BS, MRCGP has been a full time Headache
Specialist for the last 12 years. He qualified from Guys Hospital
Medical School and is currently the Director of the Kings Headache
Service, London. He has run a headache research centre for the
last 11 years and has roles in many of the UK's Headache Charities.
He is the secretary of Headache UK the umbrella group for all
the charities but also Chairman of the largest professional interest
group-Migraine In Primary Care Advisors , Council Member of the
British Association for the Study of Headache and Medical Advisor
to the patient group Migraine Action Association. He is a member
of the International Headache Society and recently contributed
to the new classification of Headache created by that group. He
is a member of the scientific committee and board of the Society
of Pharmaceutical Medicine. He has been Principal Investigator
on many studies including more than 50 on the family of drugs
called the Triptans. He is an author of 4 books and 2 of these
have been released during 2002 to 2003. He has over 120 reviewed
publications and 100 abstracts at International meetings. He has
lectured on headache nationally and internationally to audiences
as varied as the International Headache Society and the American
Academy of Neurology. In the UK there have been nearly 300 lectures
to General Practitioners and nearly 50 patient groups. Other groups
educated include nurses, pharmacists, occupational therapists,
osteopaths and medical students.
